Shell firms shielded US contractor MPRI from taxes
In March 2005, Virginia-based MPRI, founded by retired senior military leaders - won a $400 million contract to train police in Iraq and other hotspots. Two months later, MPRI set up a company in Bermuda to which it subcontracted much of the work. Tax lawyers say that MPRI appears to be sidestepping scrutiny by hiring workers through offshore entities based outside the jurisdiction of the Internal Revenue Service.

Armor Group munitions clearance team helps stranded Marines
A convoy supporting the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center’s Coalition Munitions Clearance (CMC) program encountered two Marine Corps M-1 tanks involved in a serious accident on a remote road in Western Iraq. The convoy personnel, that included CMC project management specialist Tim Bohannon and 22 employees of security contractor Armor Group Inc. (AGI), set up a security perimeter and treated the injured Marine until the medical evacuation helicopter and the Marine Corps Quick Reaction Force (QRF) arrived.
